What’s checked
The number you gave, against the register or membership roll held by the body you nominated.- Ahpra is the register, where there is one. Registration under the National Law is public record, which we check directly.
- Speech pathology and counselling are not registered professions. We check membership of the professional association instead.
- Some roles have no board at all. A support worker or developmental educator is verified on a worker screening check, and their profile reads “Worker screening checked by Open Therapy” rather than “Registration checked by Open Therapy”.
The registration number isn’t compulsory for the no-board case. Everywhere else it is, and it needs
at least 6 characters.
The states
The workspace names the state you’re in.
A published profile can also wait on its care category: the card then reads “Waiting on launch” and names the category. See Care types.
Listing states
Unpublished
Invisible in the directory, in search, in matching and at your booking link. Your workspace is open
in the meantime.
Published
Live in the directory, eligible for matching, and bookable once your hours are published and your
payouts are active.
If something doesn’t line up
You’ll get an email — “We need one more thing.” — saying we couldn’t confirm your registration.Almost always this is a typo or a name that’s since changed. Any note about what’s missing appears at
the top of your application screen.
When you’re verified
You’ll get a “You’re live.” email. Three things are worth doing in your first week:1
Hand out your booking link
It goes live the same day, a client who books through it never costs you an introduction fee, and a
click counts for 90 days. See Your booking link.
2
Set your real availability
So the times clients see are the times you have. See Availability.
3
Check your fees and funding
See Services and pricing.
The verified badge
A verified badge on your profile, and a line in the booking panel: “Registration checked by Open Therapy”. It confirms you’re registered to practise, and is not a rating, a ranking signal, or an endorsement of clinical judgement. Your Qualifications section shows your registering body, your years practising and any qualifications on your profile.Keeping your registration current
Your obligations are terms of listing: current registration with Ahpra or your professional association, appropriate professional indemnity insurance, and your own record-keeping, consent and risk processes.Nothing here tracks your insurance certificate or a Working with Children Check — there’s no field
for either. An expired registration is grounds for unpublishing a profile.
