Every therapist gets a personal address at opentherapy.link/your-name. It opens your profile, exactly as it appears in the directory.

Why it matters commercially

A client who arrives through your own link carries no introduction fee. There is no platform fee and no monthly fee either, so you keep the published session price from the first booking. Card processing is added at checkout and paid by the client. Worth putting on your card, in your email signature and on your own website.
Attribution is first touch. The handle is remembered for 90 days, and the pairing is written the moment the client signs in, or at checkout at the latest. Somebody who followed one therapist’s link and then another’s belongs to the first.
The pairing is per therapist. If the client later books someone else from the directory, that therapist’s introduction fee applies as normal.

Claiming your handle

Your handle is the second question in the practice setup, and it’s held for you the moment you claim it. Afterwards you’ll find it under Your link in Settings, where availability is checked as you type. The rules:
  • Between 3 and 30 characters
  • Lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens
  • No double hyphens, and it can’t start or end with one
Anything else you type is folded into that shape rather than rejected — capitals are lowercased, spaces and punctuation become hyphens.

If your handle isn’t available

Where a suffixed version would do, we offer one — Try sarah-chen-2 — for you to accept.
If your name is taken, add your discipline or your suburb: sarah-chen-psychology or sarah-chen-newtown.

Before you’re verified

The address is reserved from the day you claim it, and the page behind it opens the day your registration is verified. Until then the panel reads Your link, reserved and the page returns nothing.
Don’t hand it out before you’re live. The first client who taps a reserved link gets a dead page.

Changing it later

You can change your handle once every 30 days. If you try sooner, we tell you how many days are left.
Your profile moves with it, and your old link keeps working: the previous name is retired to you and redirects to the current one. It never resolves to anyone else, and you can always take your own former name back.

What clients see

Your profile, at your address. Nothing on it says a client came in more cheaply than another one.

Using it well

The workspace gives you two things to copy: the link itself, and a line for your email signature — “Book a session with me: https://opentherapy.link/your-name.

Email signature

One line under your name, and it goes out on everything.

Referral letters

A GP forwarding a referral can send the client straight to your booking page.

Business cards

Reads as a URL without the scheme: opentherapy.link/sarah-chen.

Your own website

Use it as your book-now button rather than building a booking flow.
Your existing clients count too, but only if they arrive through the link. Invite a client emails them your booking address, so the pairing is recorded when they sign up. Filing somebody as a client record doesn’t record one. See Client files.
