What makes this different
Matching is built on lived experience, not just modalities
Matching is built on lived experience, not just modalities
Matching asks what you’re carrying — culture, identity, neurodivergence, grief, caring, faith —
and which of those a therapist has lived through rather than only worked with. Shared experience
is the heaviest factor in your shortlist. See Find a therapist.
You keep the published session price
You keep the published session price
No booking fee and no percentage of a one-to-one session. Card processing is added at checkout
so the therapist keeps the published fee. Open Therapy charges the therapist a one-off
introduction fee on the first match with a new client, out of their payout. See Fees.
Cancellation terms belong to the practice, and are enforced
Cancellation terms belong to the practice, and are enforced
Each therapist chooses one of four cancellation policies, shown on their profile, at checkout and
in your confirmation email. The terms are copied onto the session when you book, and they’re what
you’re charged. Moving a session is free. See
Cancellations and refunds.
Reviews describe the service, never the treatment
Reviews describe the service, never the treatment
Australian law prohibits testimonials about regulated health services. Reviews cover booking,
admin, premises and manner — not symptoms, treatment or whether therapy helped. Every review is
screened, and anything borderline is read by a person. See Reviews.
Everything between sessions is free with an account
Everything between sessions is free with an account
No subscription. The whole audio library — a new episode every day — is free with an account,
along with a private journal, prompts, and messaging with any therapist in the directory. See
