Open Therapy sorts practitioners into fourteen care types, each a family of professions rather than a single job title — Psychology holds both psychologists and clinical psychologists, Disability support holds three roles. Two are open for bookings: Psychology and Counselling. The other twelve have a page and practitioners behind them, but can’t be booked yet.
Care types open one at a time, and each one opens for everybody at once. Until yours opens it wears a Coming soon pill wherever it’s listed, and its own page offers an email field where the booking calendar would be. Leave your address and you’ll hear on the day it opens.
What kind of care grid with cards for Psychology and Counselling, and cards for Speech pathology and Occupational therapy each marked Coming soon.

Every care type is listed together, and the ones that haven't opened wear a Coming soon pill

What “coming soon” means for you

Practitioners in an unopened care type rejoin the directory on the day their care type opens.

Joining a waitlist

Give an address and nothing else, used once to tell you the day that care type opens. You can join more than one. It doesn’t create an account, hold a place in a queue or commit you to anything.

If you’re a therapist in one of these

You can apply, complete onboarding and be verified before your care type opens. The application asks for your care type first, and picking an unopened one tells you so on the spot. Your profile goes into the directory the day the category opens. See Join Open Therapy and Verification.

How it works

The path from searching to a first session, from both sides.

Find a therapist

Matching, the shortlist, and searching the directory yourself.
Open Therapy is a directory and booking platform, not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. More numbers are on Getting help.
