You don’t need an account to search, read profiles or shortlist. You do need one to book, message or write anything down.

The Open Therapy signup page headed Who's this for?, offering I'm looking for therapy or I'm a therapist, with a Log in link underneath and a panel of photographs alongside

The first step of signup, choosing who the account is for

1

Choose who the account is for

Under Who’s this for?, pick I’m looking for therapy. You can add the therapist role later.
2

Enter your name and email

First name, last name and email. Google and Apple sign-in, where available, skip the next step.
3

Confirm your email

We email a six-digit code, which expires in 30 minutes and works once. Enter it and select Confirm email.
4

Pick a password

At least 8 characters, then Create account.
No code after a minute? Select Send a new code and check spam. The subject line is the code itself — “123456 is your Open Therapy code”.
You land on the matching questionnaire, or back in your booking if you were part-way through one.

Signing up during a booking

You can make an account inside checkout: name, email and the six-digit code, with the card form underneath — see Book a session. It skips the password; set one from your confirmation screen or Settings.
Once you reach payment, the hour is held for 15 minutes while you finish. See Book a session.

Tick Keep me signed in to stay signed in.
The Open Therapy login page with email and password fields, a tick box to keep you signed in, a Forgot password link, a Sign in button, a Use a code instead link, and a Create an account link at the bottom

Both ways in sit on the login page, one under the other

Select Forgot password for a reset link, also valid for 30 minutes.

If you shortlisted things before signing up

Anything you did signed out is kept in your browser and moves onto your account when you sign in:
  • Therapists you shortlisted
  • Your answers to the matching questions
  • Journal entries written in that browser

Account emails

Each ends with a line telling you what to do if it wasn’t you.

Changing your email

From Settings, under Security. Three steps, in order: a code to your current address, then the new address, then a code to the new inbox. Nothing changes until the last code is confirmed.

Signing out everywhere

Also under Security. It ends every session on every device, including the one you’re using.

Closing your account

Settings has an export of your record and, at the bottom, Close my account, which opens a request to our support team. Closing removes your profile. Therapists must retain clinical notes for seven years under Australian law — see Safety and privacy.
