# Membership

> Open Therapy+ — what it includes, what it costs, and when it isn't worth it.

Open Therapy+ is the only subscription on the site. Therapists list free and pay per session, so nothing here is charged to them.

## What it costs and includes

**\$24.99 per month.** Month to month, no lock-in.

| Included                             | Detail                                |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------- |
| **20% off every session** | Therapy, couples work and assessments |
| **25% off group programs** | Courses and workshops too |
| **The full library**                 | 72 guided sessions across 7 programs  |
| **Member prices for your household** | Everyone at your address |
| **First look at times that free up** | Before they go back to the directory |

## Is it worth it for you?

The membership page works out the break-even against real directory prices — at a median fee, a certain number of sessions a month covers the cost.

<Note>
  If you only see someone every few months, don't join. Below the break-even you're better off paying
  as you go, and you can join later without penalty.
</Note>

## How the discount works with Medicare

You're charged the member price, then your rebate comes off that. The gap you actually pay drops by the full discount.

## Does the therapist earn less?

No. The discount comes out of Open Therapy's margin, not the therapist's fee. That's what lets it stay flat across the whole directory — no therapist has to opt in, and nobody is paid less for taking a member's booking. See [Fees](/fees#membership-discounts-dont-come-out-of-your-fee).

## Cancelling

Month to month. Cancel any time, and member prices stay live until the end of the month you've paid for.

## The library

Guided audio: **72 sessions across 7 programs**, around 19 hours in total, in three formats — meditations, sleep stories and a podcast — across ten topics from grounding and breath through sleep, low mood, burnout, self-compassion, focus and grief.

### The programs

| Program                                                                        | Sessions | Based on                               |

| **Sleep, Rebuilt** — CBT-I, not sleep stories                                  | 7        | CBT-I                                  |
| **Unhooking** — make room for the thought and keep walking | 7 | ACT |
| **Open Session** — a fortnightly conversation with the people who do this work | 12 | Interview |

Each program is narrated by a therapist from the directory.

### Free versus members-only

**26 of the 72 sessions are free on any Open Therapy account**, with no membership and no booking required:

* All of **First Steps**
* The first session of every other program
* Every episode of the **Open Session** podcast

The remaining 46 need membership. Locked episodes show a lock icon.

### Using the library

Open **Library** in your account. It offers a pick for today, picks up anything you left part-way through, and filters by format and topic. The player follows you between pages, and your progress is remembered.

Each episode carries a journal prompt you can take straight into an entry — see [Journal](/clients/journal).

<Note>
  The journal is free on every Open Therapy account and is not part of membership.
